Former Acting Comptroller of the Currency, Independent Advisor

Michael J. Hsu served as Acting Comptroller of the Currency from May 2021 to February 2025. During his time leading the OCC he also served as a Director of the FDIC, a member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, and chair of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council. Prior to that, Mike led the GSIB supervision program at the Federal Reserve. He has also worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the IMF. Currently, he writes and speaks on AI and is a fellow at the Aspen Institute, member of the Bretton Woods Committee, and advisor to central banks, companies, non-profits, and a fintech venture capital firm.
