Yuta Takanashi is a member of the Secretariat of the Financial Stability Board (FSB). He joined the FSB in October 2022 to lead its work on financial innovation. His current portfolio includes crypto-assets, AI, tokenization, and quantum computing, among other financial innovation themes. He also supports the FSB Chair and the Secretary-General in participating in and coordinating with the G20 and the G7.
Prior to the FSB, he served as the Chief Fintech Officer at the Japanese Financial Services Agency, where he led regulatory and supervisory initiatives on crypto-assets and other financial innovations, as well as contributed to various international efforts in this space, including relevant FSB working groups. Previously, he supported the Japanese Finance Minister and Finance Deputy in participating in the G20 and the G7, focusing on financial sector issues, including financial regulation and sustainable finance.
He received a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science from the Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly the Tokyo Institute of Technology).
