In March 2019, he assumed office as the first Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CSFO) following the creation of a new position within the Financial Services Agency (FSA) to participate in the planning and drafting of matters related to the promotion of sustainable finance and to make necessary adjustments to related operations.
In this position, he has wide-ranging responsibilities related to sustainable finance. For example, he has worked on issues such as improving the consistency of private sector finance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting TCFD/ISSB disclosures by businesses and financial institutions. Internationally, he has chaired the FSB Transition Finance Working Group and co-chaired the IPSF Transition Finance Workstream.
In June 2024, he assumed the position of Director of General Policy Division (concurrently serving as CSFO).
Responsible for planning and coordination of JFSA policies, including promotion of sustainable finance.
