Mark T. Uyeda was sworn into office as a Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on June 30, 2022. He was sworn in for a second term as Commissioner on December 28, 2023.
Commissioner Uyeda has most recently detailed at the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. He also served on detail at the U.S. Department of Treasury and the U.S. Department of Labor. Commissioner Uyeda has been with the SEC since 2006, serving as Senior Advisor to Chairman Jay Clayton, Counsel to Commissioners Michael Piwowar and Paul Atkins, and in additional leadership roles with the Division of Investment Management.
Before the SEC, Commissioner Uyeda was Chief Advisor to the California Corporations Commissioner. Earlier in his career, he worked as a securities attorney in the private sector.
Commissioner Uyeda earned his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and his J.D. from Duke University. He is the first Asian-Pacific American to serve as a Commissioner at the SEC.
