Raj Singh Shiu

Senior Financial Sector Specialist, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Shiu joined ADB in 2014 and has led country programming, economic analysis, forecasting, finance sector technical assistance, programs, and project preparation, and implementation. He is the Pacific regional focal for finance sector operations and is keen on using technology to support financial inclusion. Before his current role, he served as ADB country team lead for Fiji, Samoa, and Vanuatu, and as country economist for Fiji, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. He has been with ADB for over ten years.

Before joining ADB, Shiu worked for the IMF and was the IMF economist for Samoa and Tuvalu. Shiu began working in the Fiji public service in 1998 as a graduate trainee in the Ministry of Public Enterprises, was seconded to public enterprises, and ended his service in the Fiji government as the Chief Economist in the Ministry of Finance and Planning. His academic background is in finance and economics.
