Masayuki (Mike) Tagai is Representative Director, and Lead Counselor for SAVEMERI, a Japanese not for profit organization focused on the advocacy of international financial standards such as ISO and associated market practice changes. Mike works with service providers, relevant industry associations, market infrastructures and public policy authorities in promoting a better understanding of implementation issues related to the adoption and adaptation of new standards.

Mike builds on his over 25 years’ career at J.P. Morgan and MUFG bank, with extensive experience in markets, transaction banking, industry issues management and corporate transformation. In the most recent 5 years, Mike ran transformational and foundational data capabilities such as implementing ISO 20022 payment messages at JPMorgan and advocating for the ISO 20022 methodology. He is involved in Asian community adoption of international standards including ISO20022 and LEI. He has been representing Japan at the ISO 20022 Registration Management Group (RMG) and has been elected Convenor in March 2021 and reelected in 2024. As Convenor of the RMG, he is focused on advocating for the effective adoption of ISO 20022 so the full potential of ISO 20022 is realized to solve for real life problems the market faces.

Mike has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Tokyo and also is an MBA of the MIT Sloan School of Management
