This session will introduce the discussions on DeFi from the Crypto Asset Working Group, highlight challenges in existing AML/CFT measures, and redefine compliance in the era of decentralized finance. We will examinetechnical approaches to achieving both AML/CFT compliance and privacy protection. The discussion will start with cryptographic technologies expected to enhance privacy within blockchaincommunities, such as zk-KYC and decentralized identity frameworks. We will also present current initiatives leveraging cryptography for AML/CFT measures, exploring ways toautomate transaction monitoring and suspicious activity detection without compromising user confidentiality. Finally, we will address regulatory challenges in ensuring transparency for regulators while preserving user privacy and consider directions for future international discussions.
